Yes and no! Whilst only 7 miles from the city centre of Inverness, River Huts is a peaceful rural setting, giving you the feeling of seclusion without being isolated. The cabin is next door to our own home, and as such we’re on hand 24/7 to assist with any queries that may arise during your stay.

For those who prefer the good old fashioned paper map, we’re located 7 miles south of Inverness on the A9. 250 yards along the B851 WEST (towards Fort Augustus), turn right towards Faillie Bridge. Over the hump Bridge, turn immediately left and follow the signs for RIVER HUTS.

Our location in the Highland countryside truly embodies its essence, and this is reflected in the access to the cabin. While we're conveniently located just under half a mile from the A9, reaching us involves crossing an 18th-century arched 'Wade' bridge and a brief stretch of untarred country road. It's important to exercise added caution, particularly in adverse weather conditions.
Please note that the Scottish Highlands' winter weather can pose challenges. Heavy snowfall can create hazardous conditions, and at times, the cabin might become inaccessible from the main road for vehicles without 4-wheel drive. For reservations during the winter months (typically December to February), we kindly ask guests to keep this in mind. Should you have concerns about the weather in the days before your arrival, feel free to stay in touch, and we can provide appropriate advice.
The cabin has private parking for one standard size vehicle. We do not allow motor homes or camper vans on site without prior consent. If you think parking may be an issue, please contact us and we can provide additional parking on request.
The cabin is a perfect size for 2 guests and as such cannot accommodate more than this. Guests who arrive with more than 2 people will be asked to leave with no refund given. Please be aware that we do not accept hen or stag parties and only booked guests are allowed on site.
WIFI is available and free to use without restrictions. The smart TV allows access to popular streaming apps like Netflix, Prime etc. using your own personal accounts. However, we want to make you aware that our Wi-Fi signal might not be as robust as you're used to. In this area, access to high-speed internet like Infinity isn't yet available, and we rely on satellite broadband. While we've done our best to provide connectivity, it's important to note that the signal strength might vary. We encourage you to take this opportunity to disconnect and enjoy the tranquility of the surroundings.
Each cabin comes equipped with a small hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, kettle and toaster.
A small shopping complex 5 miles away at Milton of Leys offers pizza, Indian and chip shop take-away/delivery options as well as a small co-op open until 10pm. We recommend the Golden Fry at Milton of Leys for delivery or takeaway Chinese.
The nearest locally owned shop is 3 miles away at Inverarnie.
If you’d rather eat out, there are some lovely restaurants and cafes in the local area. We recommend The 3 Bridges in Tomatin, Dores Inn and the North Gate Cafe at Daviot Woods. Of course, we're only 5 miles from Inverness where you will find restaurants and cafes in abundance. A taxi to Inverness takes about 10 mins and will cost approximately £20-£28 depending on the time of day/night.
Regrettably we cannot accommodate pets of any kind on site. If guests arrive with pet(s), they will be kindly asked to depart without eligibility for a refund. This decision doesn't reflect any lack of affection for pets – in fact, we adore our furry friends! Our aim is to provide an environment free of pets to accommodate guests with sensitivities. This ensures that those with sensitivities, such as allergies, can confidently reserve our accommodation and enjoy a comfortable stay. If you're seeking a getaway for your furry friend, we'd be happy to recommend excellent local pet-friendly options.
